Rodents & Other Insects

Rodents

Rodents are destructive to your home, and can pose a serious health risk if you do not eliminate them as quickly as possible. Many rodents chew through wires, which can cause electrical fire, they also tear apart insulation to create nests inside the walls in the dark recesses of your ceiling cavity.

We can also control less common insect pests such as Wasps and Silverfish

Wasps are a pest insect. They harm our invertebrates and birds also people. They nest in plants or on any corner of the house, garage and trees. A wasp uses it's sting for killing prey, but it can also use it very effective for defending it self.

The sting has associated glands which produce venom. A sting can be very painful but its normally not dangerous. However some people become ill after being stung.

Silverfish are small, soft insects without wings. Silverfish are not often seen by homeowners because they are nocturnal and can run very swiftly. They prefer, moderate temperature places such as basements, laundry rooms and under sinks. Occasionally you can find them in bath tubs, seeking food or moisture. They also prefer vegetable matter, however when inside they will eat almost anything such as dried beef, flour, starch, gum, glue, cotton, linen, rayon, silk, sugar, molds, breakfast cereals, wall paper paste, books and papers.

Ants

Ants

The most common introduced ant is the white-footed house ant.

They often nest in walls and forage in houses for water and food, particularly sweet items. They also contaminate food items and are able get into jars by walking around threaded tops and also into Tupperware.

Flies

Fly

The common house fly is medium size, generally gray in color and the female is larger than the male. The house fly and other types of "filth flies" can become a nuisance pest, but also they're important for their potential to harm humans and animals. House flies, for example, can spread diseases such as food poisoning and dysentery. Flies, including stable flies and mosquitoes can inflict painful bites while feeding on the blood of humans and other animals, and some species transmit disease. The habits of filth flies favor the spread of bacteria and other disease-causing organisms. Filth flies often feed and lay eggs on garbage, manure and carrion before contaminating human foods and food preparation surfaces by landing on them. When feeding, house flies regurgitate their stomach contents onto food to liquefy it before ingesting it. They also may contaminate food and surfaces by defecating on them.

White Tails & Other Spiders

White Tail Spider

A nocturnal hunter the white-tail spider has a dark reddish to grey, cigar-shaped body (males about 12mm, females up to 18 mm long) and dark orange-brown banded legs. White tails hide in the most amazing place, they also love curtains and crawl up valances and under duvet, that's why people get bitten in bed.

They are commonly found hiding from the light in piles clothes left on the floor. They enter homes by different methods such as via firewood. White-tailed Spider bites have been controversially implicated in causing severe skin ulceration in humans, and can cause initial burning pain followed by swelling and itchiness at the bitten area usually goes and there's no lasting effect. But occasionally, welt's, blistering or local ulceration has been reported-conditions known medically as necrotizing arachnidism.

As well as the spider's venom, minor bacterial infection of the wound may be a contributory factor in such cases people with allergies should be very careful.
